LCTV offers certification in field work (camcorder), editing and studio production.
Please call or write if interested in taking classes. Class schedule will depend on teacher availability and demand, so please check back for possible dates.

Editing class is February 6, Field I is March 6, and Field II is scheduled for March 13.
The course is free and open to residents as well as individuals who are
affiliated with an eligible non-profit or a public institution in Alna,
Bristol, Damariscotta, Dresden, Edgecomb, Newcastle, Nobleboro, Waldoboro,

Lincoln County Television (LCTV) has scheduled a hands-on studio production
course that will culminate in the creation of an actual show. After completing
the course, participants will be certified as LCTV producers and will be
eligible to use the LCTV Media Center for future shows of their own design.
The course, consisting of four two-hour classes, will be held on Saturday,
January 16, Saturday, January 23, Saturday, January 30, and Saturday,
February 13, from 10 am to noon, at LCTV’s Media Center, 29 Sheepscot Rd,
Newcastle.
The course is free and open to residents as well as individuals who are
affiliated with an eligible non-profit or a public institution in Alna,
Bristol, Damariscotta, Dresden, Edgecomb, Newcastle, Nobleboro, Waldoboro,
Westport Island, and Wiscasset. Call 563-6338 to register for the class.
LCTV is a non-profit, tax-exempt public, education and government access
media organization that broadcasts 24/7 to cable households in ten
communities within Lincoln County.

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS:
- Field I - Learn how to:
- operate one or more camcorder models
- set up a tripod
- use secondary sound equipment
- You will have the opportunity to practice what you've learned in class by shooting a short subject which the instructor will critique
- Field II (pre-requisite: Field I) Learn how to:
- work with light and filters
- frame your subject
- optimal use of zoom
- edit while taping
- You will have the opportunity to practice what you've learned in class by shooting a short subject which the instructor will critique
Certification in Field requires the completion of both the Field I and Field II courses and a demonstration of proficiency to the instructor's satisfaction
EDITING - Final Cut Express (FCX): (pre-requisite: camcorder proficiency)
- An introduction to Final Cut Express Learn how to:
- navigate the editing program
- get video from tape to editing system
- create clips
- manipulate timeline for video and audio
- make basic cuts
- make video and audio transitions
- Studio Production I - Studio Crew (CLASS 1)- Learn how to:
- set up and operate cameras
- light and mic placements
- arrange sets
- work with chroma-key screen
- Instructor: Alan Lowe
- Technical Directing I (CLASSES 2, 3, 4) - Learn how to:
- switch camera shots
- add external content such as clips or audio
- manipulate graphics and clips for overlay
- make and use titles
- make transitional cuts
- use chroma-key
- Instructor: Jack Swanton
Certification in Studio Crew and Technical Directing is dependent on showing proficiency by working on an actual show.
Classes are held at the LCTV Media Center located at 29 Sheepscot Rd., Newcastle, ME and usually scheduled on Saturdays from 10am to noon. Classes are free and available to all residents of Alna, Bristol, Damariscotta, Dresden, Edgecomb, Newcastle, Nobleboro, Waldoboro, Westport Island and Wiscasset and other qualified persons. Those under 18 must have written permission from their parent or legal guardian to take courses.
